SCM STEM is an enrichment elective for motivated students who love science and math — and want to put those principles to work on real-world engineering challenges.

If you are a new or returning STEM student, I’m super excited for you to experience what we have in store for this new school year. We’ve got some brand new, never-before-done builds and problems to solve, and a lot of cool new tech to play with. It’s going to be a great ride!

One of the perks of being part of SCM STEM is the opportunity to join the SC Robotics team, which is made up entirely of SCM STEM students and competes against other middle schools as well as high schools.
Each fall the team competes in the Music City BEST Robotics challenge hosted at Lipscomb University. In this student-led competition, students design and build a robot to solve a different problem each year — and this past year the team won 1st Place BEST Award for the 6th year in a row.
In the winter and spring we compete in two more events: Robot Drone League, an aerial robotics challenge, and Kilobots, a combat robot league. The team has also competed in MATE, an underwater robotics challenge.
